After 30 years, the journey is completed. Not only did I acquire the complete 1996 Disney Band Trip video, but I also acquired the 1992 video as well. Both of the videos were the original masters, so the final video quality is beyond top-notch for the age of the content.

Fast forward to February 2023 I decided to write the JoAnn Daken, the widow of John Daken, about locating the videocasettes that might still be around. I wrapped up the letter with:
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Usually letters like this are long shots, especially looking for a piece of history from almost 30 years ago. I feel it’s time to take the shot before it’s too late.
I got no response.
Then I ended up going to Susan, the daughter, mentioning the videocasettes and the letter I sent. She mentioned that she was pretty sure they were thrown out but she was going to double check. On Sunday, May 10th, the following came through:
On May 18th I had picked up the cassettes.
May 19th I was digitizing them.
The rest is history.
