Quotes and anecdotes that I’ve held close to myself.

Quote 1/4

Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.

Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Once we’ve become an adult we should have had enough time to identify and master our feelings and emotions. Concepts such as anger and hate should be fleeting thoughts, and curiosity and kindness should be more forefront.

Quote 2/4

…and those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

anonymous

Originally a quote mass-attributable to Friedrich Nietzsche (and quoted that way), this quote works its way back through history and breaks language barriers (Quote Investigator, June 5, 2012). It really breaks down to the concept of not really letting the world affect you by what they will say or think for you are perfect the way you are. It’s a great quote that helps to reinforce individuality, one of the core tenants of being a human being.

Quote 3/4

Everyone has a photographic Memory, some just don’t have film.

Steven Wright

The obviousness of deadpan coupled with the wit of philosophy, Steven Wright provides more meat in his musings than the typical one-liner. This one does makes everyone immediately equal with the best attribute you could ever have, and then provides them the best reason for not fully utilizing that attribute.

Quote 4/4

Why when you want things in order they call it a disorder?

Brian Regan

Another comedian that helps break through reality with his masterfulness of the English language combined with his stage persona. He also helped me better identify my specific OCD-related tendencies, of which his own self-diagnostics I feel I’ve done many times and ended up with the same results: 5.0.
